Julie Shore, requiescat in pace

Updated 2026-10-25

The Celebration of Life for Julie Shore will be held at First Baptist Church, 1300 Oxford St, Halifax on Saturday, November 14, at 2:00pm with a reception to follow in the Sanctuary. Due to limited seating capacity, the service will also be live-streamed on the Church's YouTube channel and Facebook page, both can be accessed from: fbchalifax.ca/fbch-online/

For First Baptist Church members: Arla invites you to contribute to the reception; many of you have told her about delicious cookies and squares you make with J.D. Shore Rum Cream. She would love for you to bring those to share as part of the reception and will provide the cream (see Jenny Edwards on Sundays or stop by the church office during regular hours if you need cream for your baking). Please bring any baked goods to the church already cut by Noon on the day of the service so that the Auxiliary can plate them.

It is with broken hearts that we share the passing of Julie Diane Shore, our beloved Julie and the heart behind J.D. Shore.

Julie’s name is on every bottle, but her legacy reaches far beyond what she created. It lives in the people she welcomed, the friendships she treasured, and the joy she brought to those around her. Her infectious smile, unmistakable laugh, and generous heart made people feel special.

Together, Julie and Arla built a dream rooted in family tradition, a love of the Maritimes, and a belief in bringing people together. We are so proud to be part of that dream.

For now, we ask that you please allow Arla and our team the time and space to grieve this enormous loss. Thank you for the amazing love and support you have shown us. It means more than we can put into words.

When we are ready, we will be back to carry Julie’s legacy forward and share her spirit with the world.

With love and gratitude, Arla and the J.D. Shore Team
